Uphold operates on-ramping and off-ramping services (Uphold Topper), enabling customers to exchange crypto-assets for fiat directly from/into external third-party wallets, such as self-custody wallets.
Any on-ramping service allows customers to obtain crypto-assets directly in third-party wallets (such as their self-custody wallet) in exchange for a fiat payment. On-ramping transactions require the execution of an outbound transfer (withdrawal) of crypto-assets from Uphold’s custodial wallets into the customer’s third-party wallet.
Conversely, any off-ramping service allows customers to send crypto-assets to Uphold directly from a third-party wallet (such as their self-custody wallets) in return for fiat. Off-ramping transactions require the execution of an inbound transfer (deposit) of crypto-assets from the customers’ third-party wallet wallets into Uphold’s custodial wallets.

About network fees
Network fees are a separate charge from Topper's buying or selling fees. They are paid directly to the underlying crypto network, not to Topper.
Network fees vary. They change based on the specific cryptocurrency network you are using and the current network traffic (congestion).
Congestion drives the cost. When more people are using the network, the demand to process transactions is higher, and the fee increases.
If you place an order through one of our partners, the fee shown in your Order Details is a combined total.
- Order Detail Fee = Topper's Fee + Partner's Fee.
Topper does not control or profit from the separate fees charged by external partners.
Processing times
Settlement times vary depending on the specific blockchain network and its confirmation process. Our processing time begins only after your deposit has been added to a block. Additionally, the time it takes for the network to confirm your transaction depends on external factors, such as network traffic and the miner fees attached by the sender. These variables are beyond our control and are not reflected in the estimates below.
