Topper's on-ramp services will be temporarily paused for customers in the European Economic Area (EEA) from 1 July 2026, while we complete our MiCAR licensing process. This does not affect customers in the UK. This page explains what's changing and what it means for you.
Who does this affect?
This applies to Topper customers based in the EEA. If you're a UK customer, or not based in the EEA, this doesn't affect you.
Why is Topper pausing services in the EEA?
Uphold remains fully engaged with its regulator in Europe to progress its MiCAR application. Whilst those discussions are ongoing, they will not be concluded by the above date.
As a result, there will be a temporary disruption to some of our services while we complete the licensing process.
What does this mean for me?
From 1 July 2026, if you're based in the EEA, you won't be able to use Topper until services resume.
How long will this last?
We hope this to be short-term. Uphold remains fully engaged with its regulator in Europe to progress its MiCAR application. We'll notify you the moment full services are restored.
What is MiCAR?
MiCAR (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) is new EU-wide regulation for crypto firms. It comes into full effect on 1 July 2026.
Will I be notified when the service is back?
Yes. We'll let you know as soon as Topper is available again for EEA customers.
